Administrative Assistant - Executive Office/Office of the President

This position reports directly to the Executive Assistant (EA) doing a variety of basic administrative support functions in a vibrant, relevant, fast-paced and highly confidential environment. The position affords a comprehensive view of the executive administration of a major nonprofit and the entire landscape of activities throughout InterAction.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with responding to and tracking various channels of communications flowing through the Office of the President;
  • Assist with scheduling internal/external meetings and handling logistics for the Office of the President;
  • Assist with maintaining a comprehensive Contact database for the Office of the President;
  • Assist with making, tracking and reporting departmental invoices, expense reports, supply orders, travel arrangements, supply orders and other administrative record keeping for the Office of the President;
  • Assist with developing and maintaining electronic and hard copy filing systems that are efficient and accessible for the Office of the President;
  • Assist with Office of the President communication flows with high level individuals in the U.S. Government, various other domestic and international partners, high level individuals in all of InterActions Member Organizations, InterAction Board Members;
  • Other projects and assignments as required.

Qualifications:

  • Some college plus administrative/ office experience;
  • Strong interest in human rights, international relief and development, and/or public policy;
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Outlook required; Word, Excel, Power Point, Mail Merge strongly preferred)
  • Be able to interact professionally with an array of high level contacts, possess an appreciation for a highly confidential environment
  • Be able to work independently and as a member of a team; meet multiple concurrent deadlines while managing changing priorities; and enjoy working in fast-paced environment
  • Be extremely well-organized, with acute attention to detail and excellent time management skills
  • Experience with database management is a plus.

Schedule and Salary: A flexible 32 hour schedule Monday through Friday between 9:00am & 5:00pm. Yearly salary of $21,600 [$13.00/hr] plus benefits.

Legislative and Program Associate Positions, Public Policy and Advocacy

InterAction seeks to fill at least two associate positions on its Public Policy and Outreach team. Depending on his/her experience the candidate will be considered for one of the following positions: Associate for Advocacy and Outreach, Associate for Legislative Research, Associate for Campaign Coordination, Associate for Poverty Focused Development.

Responsibilities: Each position will support InterAction’s public policy strategy and facilitate the advocacy of relevant subject area working groups. This includes

  • Advocacy on U.S. foreign assistance policy, budget and appropriations issues related to international development programs,
  • Coordination with other poverty-focused networks, as well as on aspects of U.S. relationships with the United Nations, the World Bank and other bodies.

Some positions may be more research focused, depending upon particular needs and demands.

The associate positions will be part of InterAction’s Public Policy Unit and report to the Senior Director for Public Policy and External Relations. Associates will work closely with Senior Legislative Associates and Managers on the Policy team and are expected to work with other InterAction units that relate to their subject matter areas.

Qualifications:
  • Congressional experience and/or advocacy experience, grassroots training and organizing, issue campaign management;
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills;
  • Bachelor’s degree (master’s work/degree preferred);
  • Experience abroad;
  • Experience with or interest in development work;
  • Good people skills, research and organizational skills, strong writing and communications skills as well as the ability to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast paced, changing environment.
