Lessons Learned from NGO Project Experiences

Lessons Learned from NGO Project Experiences

This publication, developed by InterAction’s Commission on the Advancement of Women and the International Center for Research on Women, presents four case studies on gender integration in field programs, encompassing different regions and sectors from InterAction member agency projects. The projects include:

Guatemala: CARE WID Initiatives in Agroforestry and Integrated Aquaculture Project
Bolivia: Save the Children "Warmi" and Child Impact Project
Thailand: Laubach Literacy International Northwest Thailand HIV/AIDS Prevention and Women’s Empowerment Project
Tanzania/Zimbabwe: Appropriate Technologies International Regional OILS Project.
The cases are highly readable and full of practical information on strategies for integrating a gender perspective in project planning, design, implementation, and evaluation. Collectively, the cases provide a review of relevant experiences and learnings from the field on ways to increase women’s participation and enhance the overall impact of development programs. An essential, user friendly tool for both programmers and policy makers!
