World Concern
Statement of Purpose World Concern works in the areas of disaster response, rehabilitation and community development to help the recipients in developing countries achieve self-sufficiency, economic independence, physical health and spiritual peace. 
Programs & Activities
Agriculture and Food Production
World Concern fosters crop improvement through new crops, cash crops and improved seed demonstration projects. It helps identify new food and better utilization of indigenous food resources. It administers and develops a program to provide veterinarians with supplies, pharmaceuticals, equipment and livestock for use in veterinary work. It aids land development, including reclamation, reforestation, irrigation, water resource development and soil conservation.
Community Development
World Concern assists rural self-help projects and trains community development workers. Through church partnerships, it assists people in setting up their own gardens or small enterprises and literacy programs.
Material Aid
World Concern provides food, medicines, seeds and equipment to disaster victims and for development projects. It also provides assistance to refugees and displaced people.
Medicine and Public Health
World Concern helps develop water supply systems. It provides medical services, including the supply of hospital equipment and medicines. It administers and develops programs for national medical personnel. It also assists in development of rural health services and provides nutrition education.
Refugee Services
World Concern provides food, shelter and medical care to refugees.
Microfinance Development
World Concern provides loans and start-up assistance for small businesses for those who would have no other access to credit. The loans are coupled with training in ethical business practices and business management skills. Poor people are given the opportunity to improve their family economic status, which will help provide for basic living expenses such as food, housing and education. |
