In recent years, InterAction has played a key role on behalf of its members in relation to the U.S. Government over appropriate steps to prevent charitable funds from being diverted for impermissible uses, including terrorism. The Counter-Terrorism Working Group was established in 2000 in response to member concerns about the possible impact on NGOs of new counter-terrorism requirements.
