Rights Information Network--RBA Listserv
As a relatively new approach to programming, there has been considerable
interest in the wider development community in exchanging information
on lessons learnt in the introduction of rights-based approaches and
on the emergence of new directions in this work. However, up to now,
access to such information has been largely dependent on personal contacts
and/or organisational links to an agency that has been taking forward
rights-based approaches.
CRIN will therefore aim
to significantly improve this situation by creating an easily accessible,
global focal point for the collection and dissemination of information
on rights-based approaches to programming. Examples of the kind of
resources CRIN is considering making available on the site include:
- Training and resource materials in rights-based approaches
- Tools for rights-based situation analysis, programme design, implementation
and monitoring and evaluation.
- Rights-based frameworks for programme areas such as education, HIV/AIDS
and emergency relief, as well as activities such as the development
of Common Country Assessments [CCAs] and Poverty Reduction Strategy
Papers [PRSP]
- Experiences and 'best practice' case studies of rights-based approaches
in practice
- Discussion of rights-based approaches to such issues as children's
participation, advocacy, budget analysis and non-discrimination.
- A calendar of activities, including training events, conferences
and workshops.
- Links to other relevant sites
- Contact information for organisations.
- Discussion forums or newsgroups and email lists; which are archived
and retrievable.
A new CRINMAIL
on Rights-Based Programming will be sent out on a monthly
basis to keep you informed of progress, and once the site is launched,
around July this year, the CRINMAIL will be a source of news on rights-based
programming. The first edition of this CRINMAIL is expected to be
sent out at the end of March. To subscribe to the new list, send an
email to: crin_rights_programming@domeus.co.uk;
