Presidential Transition Resources

Guide to Appropriate Giving

""To the people of poor nations, we pledge to work alongside you to make your farms flourish and let clean waters flow; to nourish starved bodies and feed hungry minds. And to those nations like ours that enjoy relative plenty, we say we can no longer afford indifference to suffering outside our borders; nor can we consume the world's resources without regard to effect. For the world has changed, and we must change with it." "

President Barack Obama, Inauguration speech, January 20th, 2009.

InterAction’s 175 member organizations welcome President Barack Obama’s commitment to support and increase investment in U.S. development assistance. We know that the American people support this investment and will support his call. The U.S. public contributes over $6 billion annually to InterAction members’ organizations to conduct humanitarian and development work world wide. They believe in the work and believe the U.S. has an obligation to work on the issues of poverty. This page represents a compendium of resources and links for the Presidential Transition team and the incoming Congress on how U.S. policies and programs can be more responsive to the realities of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable populations.
