Cecilia Thiam

Cecilia joined InterAction as the Director of Humanitarian Practice in January of 2024. She represents InterAction in different national and international forums focused on the humanitarian system and its governance.

Cecilia has over 10 years of country-focused emergency experience and aims to promote enhanced attention to localization, gender diversity, and balance and accountability in the humanitarian decision making space.

Before joining InterAction, Cecilia worked as Humanitarian Director for Save the Children in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Cecilia has significant experience managing country-level humanitarian operations with both international NGOs and U.N. agencies including in the Central African Republic, Ethiopia, Cameroon, Mauritania, and other Sub-Saharan emergency contexts.

Cecilia holds a B.A. in international relations from the University of Geneva and an M.A. in International Relations from Freie Universitât Berlin, both with a focus on forced migration.
