The Nature of Development
One of the great challenges of the 21st-century will be to lift three billion people from poverty—and assist billions more living on its cusp—against a backdrop of severe natural resource degradation. The fundamental connections between human security and natural resource integrity need to be addressed.
InterAction, an alliance of nearly 200U.S.-based international relief and development non-governmental organizations (NGOs), has embarked on an ambitious effort to tackle this challenge. Over the course of four months in 2011, InterAction convened members from the global environment and development communities for a unique series of discussions on strengthening outcomes for both fields through increased integration.
