Erin Weir
Erin Weir joined InterAction as the Director of Protection in June 2021. She represents InterAction in U.S. and international policy fora, with a view to enhancing the protection of civilians in insecure and conflict-affected settings. This includes support to teams working towards the prevention of GBV, the mitigation of civilian harm by military and non-state armed actors, and the cultivation of a results-based approach to the reduction of civilian vulnerabilities and the alleviation of threats.
Erin has over 15 years of experience working to promote respect of international humanitarian and human rights law, and the advancement of effective protection approaches with multiple NGOs—including Refugees International, the Norwegian Refugee Council, and CARE—in contexts spanning Africa and the Middle East. She has also consulted as an analyst, trainer, and training developer with numerous I.R. and security-focused institutions, as well as the U.N. Erin holds a B.A. (Hon.) in Political Studies, with a minor in Development Studies from Queen’s University (Canada), and an MSc in International and European Politics from the University of Edinburgh (Scotland, U.K.).
