Statement Marking One Year Since October 7 Attack on Israel

WASHINGTON, D.C. – InterAction, the leading alliance of international non-governmental organizations and partners in the United States, released the following statement on October 7, 2024, one year since the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel.

“Today marks one year since Hamas launched a terrorist attack that killed 1,200 Israelis and took 250 civilians hostage—101 of which remain in captivity.

“It also unleashed a conflict that has claimed tens of thousands of innocent lives and caused an ongoing humanitarian catastrophe.

“Our community has felt its impact in so many ways, including the loss of over 300 humanitarian workers who were trying to serve those in need.

“We mourn those who have been lost and whose lives have been shattered by this conflict.

“We will continue to work to support those in need and for a world in which all may live in safety and with the dignity everyone deserves.”
