Statement on Israel and Hamas Ceasefire and Hostage Agreement

WASHINGTON, D.C. – InterAction, the leading alliance of international non-governmental organizations and partners in the United States, released the following statement on January 15, 2025, following the announcement of a ceasefire and hostage deal between Israel and Hamas.

“InterAction welcomes the announcement of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.

“After 15 months of devastating struggle, both parties have agreed to a six-week ceasefire that includes the release of hostages and prisoners, along with increased humanitarian aid access to Gaza’s civilian population.

“We call on all parties to strictly adhere to every aspect of this agreement. While the announcement provides a crucial opportunity for relief, the global community must ensure the three phases of the deal are respected and remain committed to securing a permanent ceasefire. All civilians have suffered long enough.

“The humanitarian community stands ready to deliver aid to the people of Gaza.”
