Sudan War (2023-Present)
With the passing of the one-year mark of the conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and Rapid Support Forces on April 15, 2023, the scale of needs in Sudan continue to rise to catastrophic levels. Mass forced displacement, rampant protection violations, and severe food insecurity have pushed civilian lives to the brink.
With an estimate of over half of the population reliant on humanitarian aid and approximately eight million individuals displaced from their homes, the situation risks further deterioration. Despite the staggering scale of needs and the widespread regional implications of the crisis, the world continues to show indifference toward the crisis.
InterAction and its Members continue to raise awareness of the conflict, advocating for heightened prioritization of assistance to reach the Sudanese people. Our coalition seeks to pressure all parties to adhere to International Humanitarian Law, emphasizing the imperative of humanitarian access and civilian protection as distinct from political processes. We are also elevating Sudanese participation in the humanitarian response and peace process working toward a cease-fire. Through these efforts, we aim to foster effective and sustainable solutions to confront the ongoing crisis.
