Over the last two decades, the West Bank and Gaza have seen persistent conflict and insecurity, marked by sporadic violence and ongoing disputes between Israelis and Palestinians over land, security, and governance. The result has been a perpetual cycle of instability and humanitarian crises.
Since October 7, 2023, the humanitarian situation has become extremely dire in Gaza. The war has resulted in extensive damage to civilian infrastructure, massive food insecurity—including the risk of famine—and large loss of civilian life. Families lack the basic needs to survive, including food, clean water, sanitation services, medication, and protection. Rebuilding once the violence settles will likely take decades.
InterAction and its Members continue to raise awareness of the conflict and call for increased assistance to reach the Palestinian people. Our alliance seeks to pressure all sides to abide by international humanitarian law and allow for the safe passage and protection of civilians and humanitarians alike.
